Показано, что хелеритрин значительно ослабляет собственную флуоресценцию гемоцианина за счет механизма статического тушения. Согласно расчету термодинамических параметров взаимодействия (ΔG, ΔH и ΔS), взаимодействие между хелеритрином и гемоцианином является спонтанным, причем основную роль в процессе связывания играют силы Ван-дер-Ваальса и формирование водородных связей. Собственная флуоресценция остатков триптофана и тирозина исследована с помощью синхронной флуоресценции. Результаты показали, что хелеритрин изменяет конформацию гемоцианина.
