Zhurnal Prikladnoii Spektroskopii” (ZPS) (ISSN 0514-7506) was founded on the initiative of the Department of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of BSSR on April 17, 1964. Scientific directions of “Zhurnal Prikladnoii Spektroskopii” are rather wide. There is covered practically all frequency range of electromagnetic radiation (from radiospectroscopy); it has recently been extended till spectroscopy of nuclear radiation, g-spectroscopy. With the growth of the number of high-technological industries, widening of the application of nanotechnologies, development of biomedicine of molecular level, ecological control, including food technologies, the role of spectroscopy in scientific and technical progress of mankind steadily increases.

The edition of “Zhurnal Prikladnoii Spektroskopii” is considered as one of the most important tasks of the Institute of Physics. The first Editor-in-Chief was B.I. Stepanov, his deputy – M.A. Eliyashevich. B.I. Stepanov managed ZPS till the last days of his life. From 1988 till 1992 V.S. Burakov was Editor-in-Chief, from 1992 till 1994 — G.P. Gurinovich. From 1994 ZPS was headed by N.A. Borisevich who during 18 years of management highly raised the level of requirements for the content of manuscripts, the responsibility of members of the Editorial Board and the competence of reviewers, increased the scientific level, the authority of the journal, its rating to international, and organized material and economic stability. From 2012 till 2018 ZPS Editor-in-Chief was Academician V.A. Tolkachev, from 2019 the head of the journal is Academician S.Ya. Kilin, Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of NAS of Belarusг. The Editorial Board is represented by authoritative scientists from Belarus and other countries.
